The Trump family’s Russian collusion scandal has just taken an unexpected and shocking turn with the voluntary release of the emails between Donald Trump Jr. and former Trump business partner Rob Goldstone which detail the communications that led to Trump Jr, campaign chair Paul Manafort, and Trump advisor Jared Kushner holding a meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer on June 9th, 2016, in order to acquire damaging information about the Hillary Clinton campaign from the Russian government.
Knowing that the New York Times already had seen the emails, Donald Jr. decided to opt for full disclosure, sharing four pages of emails on Twitter that truly speak for themselves:
But it’s the fourth page of the emails that really offers us the first conclusive proof we have that the Trump campaign tried desperately to collude with the Russian government in order to swing the election in Donald Trump.
In this email, “Emin” refers to Emin Agalarov, an Azerbaijani pop star and former Trump business partner, and “Aras” is his father Aras Agalarov, a Russian-Azerbaijani oligarch closely linked to Vladimir Putin.
The email goes on to clearly state that the information comes from the Russian government and confirms beyond all doubt that the Russian government was interfering in our election on behalf of Trump.
It goes without saying that these emails are extremely incriminating and while the full disclosure approach is a welcome change for the typically mendacious Trump clan, it’s hard to see how this helps his case at all.
One could argue that it’s an attempt to stave off appearing under oath before the Senate Intelligence Committee, but if anything these revelations compel the Senate to subpoena him and find out what really transpired during that meeting.
Now that the smoke has cleared and Donald Trump Jr. is obviously holding the gun, it’s time for Special Counsel Mueller to dispense swift and severe justice upon the Trump family for their crimes.
