The Creator Of Minecraft Just Made A Vile Homophobic Tweet And Quickly Deleted It

As Trump has made abundantly clear, obscene wealth can’t buy class or even basic human decency.

Today, the billionaire creator of the megapopular video game Minecraft, Markus Persson – who goes by the nickname “Notch” – tweeted out an extremely homophobic message to his followers. He quickly deleted the tweet, but not before it had spread.

Although he removed the tweet, he followed it up with more tweets, doubling down on his hate:

Persson’s hateful tweetstorm was met with swift and widespread backlash. One user eloquently explained why Gay Pride matters in societies in which LGBTQ persons are constantly marginalized and mocked:

Other users dug into Persson, shredding him in retaliation for his ignorance and bigotry:

Some struck a more positive note:

One user pointed out the similarities between Persson and Trump:

Persson himself has attacked Secretary Hillary Clinton in the past. When asked if he prefers Trump or Clinton he said:

He later grew more supportive of Trump. When asked if he supports our current mendacious president, Persson replied:

Persson – who sold his Minecraft company for $2.5 billion in 2014 – is a perfect example of a wealthy, deeply privileged individual who still, somehow, feels the need to play the victim. There is no need for a Heterosexual Pride Day because heterosexuals are allowed to be publicly proud every day of their lives without repercussions.
