The Republicans have yet to reveal the Frankenstein’s monster version of Trumpcare they’ve been secretly stitching together, but they plan to vote on it next Thursday. The Democrats took to the Senate floor today to protest the clandestine legislation.
Senator Tammy Duckworth suggested unanimous consent that the legislation not be permitted to kick veterans off Medicaid. Republicans objected to the measure.

Duckworth’s motion was a simple move that would have helped protect our servicemen and women, but Republicans rejected it out of hand. Duckworth is herself a veteran, and lost both her legs serving in Iraq. She received the Purple Heart, Air Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. Nobody understands the needs of veterans better than she.

Mitch McConnell’s objection means the Republicans either plan to pull healthcare from veterans, or are at least leave the move on the table.
Republicans love to trumpet support for veterans during election season, but the moment they’re in power they cease to care. Their cowardice is a disgrace to their constituents and a disservice to our military.
