Another day, another stunning report about how the President’s composure and stability are decaying at an alarming rate.
The bitter frustration and stress caused by the FBI’s investigation into his office and his staff, for which he has only himself to blame, is prompting him to lash out in fury as he obsesses over the investigation.
Last night, POLITICO reported that Trump had begun randomly interjecting “I’m not under investigation” into conversations. Now that he is under investigation, the Associated Press has revealed that Trump has progressed into literally yelling at televisions:
Trump advisers and confidants describe the president as increasingly angry over the investigation, yelling at television sets in the White House carrying coverage and insisting he is the target of a conspiracy to discredit — and potentially end — his presidency. Some of his ire is aimed at Rosenstein and investigative special counsel Robert Mueller, both of whom the president believes are biased against him, associates say.
The reports coming from the White House are beginning more and more to resemble the stories of the last days of famous sociopathic dictators, descending into the abyss of paranoia and wallowing in his anger and spite.
It is particularly difficult for Trump, who as a white rich man has never been forced to face the consequences of his actions before. His petulance and his unshakeable belief that the world is out to get him is born out of privilege and self-entitlement.
It is utterly disgraceful to hear our President behave like this, though anyone who has followed the events of the past few months can hardly be surprised at the way that Trump has deteriorated since he was appallingly unqualified and unsuited to be President in the first place.
It just remains to be seen how much damage he can do before we rid ourselves of him.
